I’m sure the BEOT is involved in lending shares and they believe the SP will go up in the LT. So, if one is a LT holder ( proper investor IMO) who does not worry about daily or monthly SP fluctuations, who cares about shorters? Its those who panic or on margin loans are the ones who become losers by selling to shorters.
