you are not wrong about some people not actually wanting a resolution - i've worked with enough people who seem to only be happy when complaining to last a lifetime!

I do not envy the people trying to solve these issues - for example the voice says we need X, which will upset many as they eblieve its an overreach. The govt of the day either says "sorry voice not gonna happen" and they remain aggrieved, or they say "ok voice lets do it" and upset the people it now negatively effects.

to be fair i dont really think they need a voice, the Noongar native title settlement showed what can be done- they went out and consulted a range of parties and worked with the govt for a solution that please all. But even that took years due to other indig objections, so a clear consistent message from the voice may also be a pipe dream. the framework is already there without the constitution. Also, I'm too young to remeber ATSIC (it disbanded when I was in year 12), but i think having the power to squash something if it is not serving its purpose is not only beneficial for us whiteys but also for the indigenous. If the voice was to evolve into a top heavy scheme where burearats got rich and nothing changed on the ground (it tends to happen across all walks of life), being able to assess its performance and scrap it seems a useful ace up the sleeve.

Thats why its a bit confusing why Albo didnt just legislate it- if he is so convinced it will work, it could have been up and running for a year now. just get on with it.

    Cheers mate
