This is precisely ZERO chance Australia would have remained solely aboriginal land for the last 235 years. Somebody would have taken this island, and if it weren’t the British, it would just be a question of who exactly.

In the end, it was the British. People just need to deal with it. Things could have turned out far, far worse.

Maybe the Torres Straight Islanders should look north to one of their nearest neighbors, East Timor and see what the alternative was.
