People get angry when other people try to steal their land, but it probably doesn't justify massacring their women, children and babies. The Israeli reaction to the Hamas attack was entirely predictable and Hamas need to accept responsibility for the inevitable consequences of their own actions.
Muhammad and Jesus were real people who lived 600 years apart; they had different names for the same imaginary friend and that seems to be a good enough reason for their respective followers to hate each other. The other reason was that Jesus and the other Jews were of the view that their imaginary friend had given them all the land between the Nile and the Euphrates; unfortunately the people who were already there never really accepted this proposition.
