Even 45 years ago the stark difference was evident. Now, it would be unreal. I was there on business. My hosts slept with machine guns under their pillows . The history and way of live that is incredible as you say. having said that , the discrimination against the Palestinians was already there big time. They had no say while living where their families have been living for centuries. The local Jewish population seemed unhappy with the influx of the Eastern European Jews. I guess they were also being displaced from power like the Palestinians. At the end of the day. That probably is the problem regardless of what people here are banging on about. Bringing millions of people into the middle east from Eastern Europe. Is never going to bring peace. They don't understand the history there, way of life etc And want to install their ideas onto a population who has been living there for millenniums. Bit like the British coming to Australia and trying to convert the Aboriginals. Only by force and or displacement shall it work
