Jerusalem is a melting pot of history and culture it really is a magical place. What you see on the main stream media is bastardized version of what the place is really like. Culturally an amazing place people just get on with their daily lives both in westbank and israel. Great food and great hummus. A place called Abu gosh ( just got hit by rockets from gaza) and an old Arab town and they have the best hummus ( don't tell the Israelis)
Market life is amazing with Jewish and arab owners right next to each other eating lunch, drinking coffee and bitching about tourists. A common agreeance! they will both steal your money.
They don't want war, they don't care for extremism on both sides. They just want to live in peace and that's what we should be striving for, encouraging proper dialogue, using appropriate language.
I encourage everyone to visit. It really is very safe.
Gaza is off-limits though ( for obvious reasons)

Regarding Abu Gosh... Most Israelis know about the hummus there and many stop on their way into or out of Jerusalem for it ; ) On my travels I have been there many times - wonderful people there and yes everyone living peacefully. Being Jewish I could never go to Schem (Nablus) or other Arab towns in Judea or Samaria for fear of death - not just Gaza.
