when interest rates were being bumped up here, housing spruikers were saying this would put upward pressures on houses prices. Walmart raising the cost of their goods will be deflationary on most other asset classes. Because, for one to buy everyday goods, one needs to take money away from somewhere else. That somewhere else to date in the US has been houses, etc.
It's been the low cost of imported goods that has kept the garbage in suspension for so long (Australia is no different).
So now I'm hearing that gold should rise because Walmart's raising its prices. That simple huh? It has to be a no brainer!
