The so called elite, like you Waleed, would barely lift a finger if we were ever invaded. No, they would be lining up en masse to collaborate with any invader. They would be demanding. initially at least, that the lesser educated do the fighting.
What could be more stupid then voting Yes for a blank cheque which is exactly what the Yes voters did. They were prepared to hand an inveterate liar a blank cheque. What could go wrong.
With hindsight I would claim that the worm knew it would lose. This has allowed the ALP to introduce us to Democrat style politics of division and its compliment of violence.
