    I agree that the original settlers, the British and Irish, were absolutely instrumental in forging the early development of Australia ( even though my own background is post WW 2 European, not British ) . More recent migrants such as my late parents, and so many others since, have made their own contributions, further enriching Australia. But I take my hat off to the first settlers and the huge sacrifices they made, in building towns, roads and so much infrastructure in backbreaking work without any of the comforts we enjoy today.
    Feel free to use the paragraph below that I created myself, in response to the Woke “ I acknowledge “ version that’s constantly being rammed down our throats.

    We recognise the British colonial heritage of Australia. We acknowledge the fortitude and sacrifice of our first European settlers, and extend our support to all who seek to respect, protect and unite all Australians as one nation.
