I reckon a big reason the No got the nod was the fact that most people have a lot on their plate at the moment. Inflation is scaring them, wars are scaring them, corruption, societal disharmony, extremists, deficits, pandemics etc etc etc. Who has the time or energy to give a crap about the blackfullas with all this other stuff going on?. Add to that the fact that we have become a very selfish, dog eat dog, I would sell my grandmother for a 2nd hand corolla kind of culture and it becomes pretty obvious why the referendum wasnt successful. We have barely given the indigenous a 2nd thought for a couple of hundred years, and in this time and place, no chance. Maybe if they had just gone for constitutional recognition without the voice they would have had a chance. Maybe.
