Happy to be corrected if I am wrong. The way I understand it is ....
As a pit is deepened a certain amount of waste rock is included in the feed from the periphery. An ore body is surrounded by a halo of lower grade but the boundary is indeterminate. The deeper the pit, the more defined the ore body and the lower the strip ratio..... the less dilution.
