The NBN itself is not the problem as Australia does need to start up to pace with tachnology (within productive reason).
It is the haste, consideration of the full range of suitable technology options available and the costing of the project that was a problem while Labor were putting hte project together.
Less haste (without the basis for go ahead being only vote winning), more thought (and public input) and a settled world economy before considering borrowing such a huge amount of money is required. If the independents and Liberals can make that work by working together in a 2-4year time frame, then it would be a plus for Australia.
(The way the NBN was going with Labor, it was obvious that it was going to be another extremely wasteful BER project.)
