what is wrong with fttn rather than to every home? then business / education and housholds (if they want to pay) can get superfast speeds but the rest of households who don't want/ don't need 100mbps don't end up subsidising them? If I were in the tech sector I would want the NBN too but the fact is most businesses and households only get a marginal benefit from it and are in effect giving a massive subsidy to the IT sector.
There should be a cheaper solution than NBN which is superior to the Coalition solution. But I don't think $43bn plus can be justified from a cost benefit perspective. As speeds increase the productivity gains taper off....law of diminishing returns takes hold.
