marriage is far more complex legally than we would expect. Also it it the legal recognition of a relationship.
To downgrade it to the status of the legality of a baptism or club membership would make marriage meaningless.
Just say marriage was totally removed from society.
We would invent another form of the same thing to demonstrate a relationship.
Gay marriage is a moral issue; discrimination.
Not against marriage itself.
