Pretty funny to read these posts about us Boomers. I was brought up with the mentality that financial success was never ever putting a hand out to Government and avoiding having to receive a pension. I succeeded no pension no handouts other than handouts given to everyone.
Fact is we want to get out of or homes so we do not have to mow lawns and garden( me specifically). Problem is the cost to downsize is 50% more. Eg. Home is worth around a million obviously not in a capital city but to downsize to a decent townhouse will cost 1.5 million. And ultimately that's what we will do. Once upon a time people downsized from a million dollar property and bought a $600000 home banking 400K just not possible anymore. To say our generation screwed the world as we know it is BS. Many more 40 year olds have a lot more money than 65 year old boomers. The wealth around today is phenominal. If you have not grabbed your share then maybe you pissed it away or wasted your opportunities or were to dumb to take opportunities when presented. Blaming a particular group in this case boomers is a weak excuse for your own ineptitude.
