LRS General Discussion, page-14697

Have been meaning to post this when I get to the laptop on a quiet moment - bit of off-the-cuff research (could almost do with its own thread lol)

Here is a really interesting article I was researching the linkages between gemstones and lithium bearing pegmatites etc. in the region. I have done a mock-up diagram to link to this paper that was written in 1984! Hope this link works:

Some key points:

(1) LRS Colina along the margin on the old map - interesting how it just about aligns in the same trending corridor LRS have identified (along the edge of the pink tourmaline producing zone). The second image is an extract that said this area around Salinas does not have as much lithium when compared to where Sigma are but that has been blown out of the water now with the discovery of Colina

(2) Atlas leases covering key old gem mines and also the Neves project where they've hit some Li (south of Sigma)

(3) Sigma over a valley of old gem mines and we know how big that is and growing

Is it coincidence that there are some fairly sizeable Li projects (in particular Sigma and LRS) in this area that was a topic of gem research over 35 years ago where this was touted as one of the greatest tourmaline producing areas of the world?

Where there is gems/tourmaline, there's potentially Li bearing pegs - it would appear from a few sources incl. a recent Ann from AL8 that it is - I didn't really understand that but looks like it may be the case (?) In which case maybe that is why this whole Minas Gerais region has such a focus on Li - very successful Li discoveries and a lot of interest / leases etc.

Where there's prawns (tourmaline) there's squid (Li) lol
