"What is the safest way to transfer money into a share trading firm"

Just make a transfer using internet banking. You will be able to find the broker's bank account details on their website (look for payment instructions). They may have BPay as well.

If you are worried about getting it wrong, start with a small transfer, say $1.00, and confirm that it is showing in your trading account (probably will take a day) before making the main transfer.

To transfer out of your trading account, your broker will probably need to have a nominated bank account set up on your account profile, and you will be able to request a transfer online.

If you have a typical transaction, or online bank account, none of this should cost you anything.

For protection against scams, good security software will warn of known scam websites, or even block access to them.
