100% it happens.
I have L2 dealer access which is the same level of market access brokers use which allows me to look at the market depth of multiple stocks at the same time.
It appears many of the gold stocks are being accumulated on the sly.
The main modus operandi from what I can see is this; grind price down by lightly shaking the tree during the low liquidity period of the day then pick up all the fallen fruit once liquidity picks up again into the close.
Rinse repeat!!!
