I don't intend to defend Hamas.... you're correct in your description and I would add they are merely murderers.
yet what would any expect Hamas fighters to do? stand in an open paddock in a circle and wait to be killed? of course they will use the tunnels, something like 300kms of tunnels and rooms excavated over many years..... Is Netanyahu any braver? he's not in the thick of it... he sends hundreds or thousands to their deaths but stays secure in his rooms. he rejects the calls for his resignation and refuses to answer how and why Hamas were able to breach the security personnel placed and patrolling the Israel/Gaza border to protect Israeli civilians.
in such conflicts there are cowards and bullies on both sides.
