In my lifetime (and I'm only 42) I've seen this happen twice to the largest ASX goldminer... Normandy now Newcrest. Why the ASX cannot hold on to its largest goldminers is a cause for concern. An even larger cause for concern and is a direct consequence of the latter is how Australian companies cannot hold on to the largest Australian goldmines.... are NST Superpit/Kalgoorlie and EVN's Lake Cowal days numbered? Will Cadia, Boddington, Tanami etc ever come under Australian hands ever again?
A nations resources are finite. The gold in these gold mines are finite. If we continue to undervalue these Australian assets someone else obviously will be glad to take if off our hands and into foreign ones, to the detriment of future Australians.
I guess I'm the last one out of the NCM boards. Happy to turn off the the lights...
