They lend shares they own to give back to those they have borrowed from??
My understanding is to reduce the pool of shorts you have to buy the stock from the existing pool of stock
Shorts by nature create an inflated pool of stock
Can't see that shorters can just grab some other stock they hold say in another account
They have transact them somehow in order to reduce the pool of shorts
Maybe I'm missing something fundamental??
