The funny thing is that the market is often very wrong about the internal business metrics, and blame leadership for the actions of other stock traders (after all, the stock price is determined by traders). Like Amazon's Stock price falling from $130 -> $6 in the ecom bust, yet all the business metrics (average order total, cost of customer acquisition, frequency of order) were improving.
