The developing world has vast quantities of IO.. They have no need to import any from Australia. They are also future competitors in seaborne IO trade. For in situ steel making you can use absolute rubbish ores. The US makes steel from taconite containing <35% Iron and >45% silica,
Green steel can't compete on price. There is no evidence it can scale to commercial production in the foreseeable future.
