Yes mate it is. It all depends on what technical data is being reported/presented to the public eg Mineral Resources vs Reserves, metallurgical, environmental etc etc
Probably not for everyone but there is extensive documentation describing who can be a CP and under what circumstances their experience and qualifications are suitably relevant to be able to sign off.
