Peter Hartcher, the very-respected journalist and political commentator says this today: "Voters have walked out on Albanese, but not to co-habit with Dutton. In fact, an all-time high proportion of voters is taking refuge in minor parties and indepen dants at the moment - 35%, as much or more than support for the 2 main parties. This is classic protest behaviour."

Dutton is not picking up because of the voter resentment.

I read the other day that Christopher Pyne's view is that the LNP will stay in opposition for a long time if it stays with right wing policies. To sway pure non-right voters, it needs to move left to align with a centre-right. position. It seems that he is right, given the resentment vote favouring the minor parties and the Independants.
