You think that there are not fires underground now from electrical infrastructure already. HV & LV reticulation underground and all numerous equipment. Its all got to do with risk management, even diesel motors burn on haul out equipment. So some additional risk on batteries is not a huge addition but the reduction in fumes and ventilation needs is huge.

Black Coal and Coal Seam Gas have always caught fire since man found coal. That was how we probably found coal due its combustibility. Coal self ignites when exposed to oxygen.

I was reading today an item that Prince Harry's Audi which is for sale 2017 model which cost.
The Daytona Grey 2017 Audi RS6 Avant – Avant meaning station wagon – was purchased new by the Royal Family member for £91,530 ($AU175,643).
That price included £11,000 ($AU21,108) worth of options comprised of pearl effect paintwork, sports pack.
Now the lavishly-equipped vehicle is for sale on British website PistonHeads.com for £42,000 ($AU80,000).

So there is some depreciation on a beloved fast Audi. Most piston heads would cry into their beer glasses over this.
