And no, Germany lost the war when they invaded Russia, Germany lost over 80% of infantry fighting against Russia. Japan lost the war when they invaded China, they lost over 70% of infantry fighting in North Asia. Both countries lost to their own hubris when their ambition exceeded their capabilities.

US involvement in last few years no doubt speeded up the war, but it was Soviet Union and China that carried the heavy weight in WW2. US lost more people to car accidents than infantry died in fighting during WW2.

As McCarthur said, every Jap tied down in Asia is one less Jap fighting America.
