I think we all realise that SaaS moves very quickly, and dominant players become established with a healthy moat - incredible efficiency at scale, network effects, brand recognition, etc. You only have a short window to make a successful product.

Two competitors jumped out at me recently, just to show where I am coming from. I was really impressed with this demo from Sitowise on their "Aura" product, it's not apples to apples with 3DP but has real time capabilities. And unsurprisingly, the ArcGIS "Reality" product is pretty solid, and is competing head on with Pointerra. How does Pointerra compete with these? They can't compete on features with Sitowise, and they can't complete on marketing with Esri, hence I worry that 3DP have missed the boat.

This post hits home about the 3DP sentiment... they were ahead of the game a few years ago, exciting to get behind and had such an opportunity... and so far have failed to deliver on this advantage... missed the boat seems like a fair assessment after the last few quarters both financially as well as progressing with market penetration... I still hold and hope that I haven't been naive in believing the announcements!
