The large container at right is used to separate out gas from liquids. In the photo there is the following:

- next to the chamber lifting loop is an air line running into the valve that accesses the backside of the MRMS piston. Applying air pressure pushes the piston back to top of the chamber and pushes out any contents. The piston is set at top of the chamber prior to running the tool and a cushion (air or water or both) can be placed behind the piston. As the chamber fills the piston is pushed to the bottom of the chamber and air or cushion expelled into the well bore.
- by the SLB guys left hand is the manual drain valve at the top of the chamber with a second valve and pressure gauge inserted into same.
- a hose runs from the drain valve into the top of the plastic container at right.
- usually another hose runs out of the top of the separator and to a gasometer that measures volume of gas. Sample bladders are filled from output of the gasometer.
- any fluid drops out and accumulates in the bottom of the seperator. Im used to transparent separators where you can see if there's any liquid in the container.
