@watso there is a Swing to the Right happening all across Western Europe, mostly due to massive immigration of people who are so different, are mostly male - and they also look different. Many do integrate well, but there is probably a statistical limit a country, a people, can accept another people who are so foreign in their culture, who get - in the poorer locals view - better treatment by government agencies, by the health system etc. better treatment than the native 'needy', who have often a 'perceived view' that they get lesser services than the newly-arrived (often arriving by stealth across borders, often picked up by the police or army in the early morning hours so the locals don't get too worried).

If I were born in any of those countries the majority of 'refugees' are now coming from (and many are not in danger of their life) I would probably do the same. Would I bring my culture with me? Yes, I did, initially when I came here, but quickly learnt the new culture, knew the language already, some goes for my now deceased husband - our children are full Aussies. I am totally integrated.

Many of the migrant communities over in Europe keep barracking for the 'old country' - the Turkish communities welcome Erdogan every time he visits Germany/Austria with demonstrations and flag displays - just one example - just showing the locals how strong 'they' are.
The young males from Africa, Irak, Syria, Afghanistan from even as far West as Albania, Kosovo, Serbia bring their 'bad attitude' toward women with them. Some major crime bosses come from those countries.
The ordinary citizen does not see 'them' as an asset in any way, just a danger.

I remember one scene, almost like a scene from a film - I was in Italy on only a short stay - just waiting for my train connection to Austria in Rome and I was just walking on an ordinary street, after having had a beautiful lunch - and I was with a friend; well, - lots of smiling Italians about, as it was the day they had won the World Cup in Soccer (in 1982!) - we walked around and past a narrow road, which had an open view at the other end - and suddenly, quick as a flash, a group of tall black man, carrying bundles - ran, sprinted, across the road, vanishing. Seems they were illegal sellers of post cards etc. and illegal migrants - and the local Police rounded them up every so often.

Putin is using the migrant threat as a political ploy now in the countries adjoining Bjelo Rus - by allowing them through right to the borders of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia - for example. Eastern European countries will have no truck with migrants, and are always shipping them West.

Holland, which has always been an open country to so many nationalities, even new ideas - (free selling of marihuana, sex etc.) - and if you know any Netherlands people; they are genuine and friendly people - they have had enough. European countries are small, they cannot absorb vast populations from strange exotic places.

I get news from Europe regularly, by virtue of still having some childhood friends who communicate with me - and even though i deem some of these messages in bad taste, racist etc., I value the contact, the information, because it gives me some insight into what has become an almost unmanageable situation.

But with climate change happening, as we speak, maybe we should all be worried about humanity packing its bundles and making for better places.
