This has nothing to do with the registry. I also purchased towards the end of the day and my buy hasn’t settled. I followed up with my Aussie broker and was told the seller can’t settle the transaction. My advisor said the only reason the seller can’t settle is because they don’t own the stock. In other words, someone has potentially illegally sold the stock naked and based on the comments on this thread there’s a few people caught up in this situation.
I suggest you lodge a complaint with your broker about the failed settlement and tell them there are a number of shareholders who you believe are in the same situation.
If the seller doesn’t own the stock then the only way they can settle your purchase is to buy it back in the market. In other words, a short squeeze in a highly illiquid market.
