Can any of you far more knowledgable folk enlighten me on a couple of things?

That is, when companies “initiate coverage” of ASX companies, does that information not automatically find its way to an ASX announcement? One’s forever seeing notices posted about the revaluing of other shares accorded by Morningstar, Bell Potter, OrdMacquarie, Citi, Ord Minnett, Wilsons, etc, usually attributed to Dow Jones,

Is it the case that these companies have established links to Dow Jones and hence the ASX news flow, whereas Arrowhead and Stonegate don’t (perhaps they’re smaller fry or a different type of research firm)?

And if these initiated coverages don’t flow through, is Bluglass allowed to post this as news of its own, anyway?

As a busy person often all I might get a chance to do each day is to scan the ASX announcements for some possible new company to catch my eye. I’m not set up to receive news alerts from every company on the ASX, so therefore only posting such things on the company’s websites doesn’t reach as far as an ASX announcement would.

I suspect there are many other people like myself who rely on announcements as an important source of leads.

Similarly, I was surprised that the Australian Hero award didn’t become an ASX announcement. We in our “rarefied”(?) forum atmosphere and looking for such news and subscribing to the BLG website found out, but the general media news to the broader public was limited and fleeting.

I know nothing at all about whether the ASX might have a role in vetting such announcements, and whether that’s the reason for no announcement.

But while we’re all happy to wait for the next BIG announcement, I wonder whether further broadcasting of the positive news stories could be useful and hopefully mitigate against the share price dropping too far in the interim.

Like all of you, I love BLG and know it’s going to do great things - I just think there are times when it’s hiding its well-earned light under a bushel (I have never known where that saying came from).
