there are different policies in play and housing is very different here with many long term rentals.

on the matter of French IR policies. It appears that french sick leave is considerably less favourable than that in australia. Despite all we hear about the French way of life there isn’t a lot of encouragement to take time off if you are unwell. Now that’s crazy.

I guess though if one is looking to be critical it’s possible to find something to criticise

Not sure why you included me in this, Parsifal, given I've never mentioned France or made comparisons with Oz. Nevertheless, hope you enjoy your holiday.
