I don't think we need to guess too hard as to why PVDM is retiring.
He is a gentleman of senior years, after working hard all his life he may just want to kick back and spend some time traveling, playing with the grand kids, and enjoying life in ways best known to him. Hardly surprising.
And as another poster has pointed out; he may be in possession of information that indicates "I can relax now, BRN is in a good place."
