The vast majority of new vehicles are bought and operated in a
tax concessionary environment vis a vis that of Joe Blow.

    ie:
-3 tiers of Government who don't pay tax and instead buy and operate these vehicle with taxpayers' lollies.
-Businesses, big, small and in-between who are allowed tax concessions in the purchase and operation
    of vehicles.
-Only the (minority) mug punter pays the lot including GST!

The previous Conservative Government has committed us to Net Zero Emissions by 2050
whether we like it or not . This not mean Zero emissions for motor vehicles which at present
makes up about 16% of Aus' total emissions. It means that in areas where its not practical
to go "green" like some HD trucking, rail , shipping & industry there will likely be carbon offsets

Of course farming is another "kettle of fish"

So slowly but surely the 3 levels of Government will tighten the economic tourniquet
to snuff out the polluters including ICE vehicles with the late transition only affordable
by the very well heeled, IMO. That trend is happening now just in case you don't
    notice it...eh?

So in summary, its not all about you and your individual needs...its all about
being carbon neutral by 2050 and hybrids and EVs are merely a means to that end.
