he cannot sell his "life savings", he is trapped.
imagine him trying to sell 25+million shares and having to disclose
if he tries to do in some sort of block, offered by his broker they have to tell the buyer that it is an insider selling
he cannot sell his stake without stock being at 10c or headed in that direction
