Imagine being a police officer, always dealing with scum, bad scum… you don’t know who or when you will be hit stabbed or shot.
You put your life at risk more than probably any other group in society especially considering the pay.
Now occasionally you will make mistakes, maybe too agressive , maybe frustrated but I don’t think any of these cases above ie George Floyd’s, Kumaje of the 12 year old kid did the police public or security go into the situation wanting to harm someone. In the heat of the moment they got heavy handed… re Floyd people get arrested like this often and probably for longer , whites blacks Asians, unfortunately for the cop in this case it led to Floyd’s death. Do you really think the cop wanted to kill floyd?
All three of these people were criminals and or in the acts of commiting crimes
now here is pretty much the same event, one gets 40 years gaol and one doesn’t get any?
We lock up the cop but let the security officer off…
If a cop chases someone in a car and that person dies is it the police officers fault?
Problem with you guys is your expectations of police being great people is wrong, police are normal people who make mistakes but generally have good intentions. In fact who do you know who wants to be a police officer, most people who are educated aspire to higher paying jobs, therefore you could argue that you should expect almost less of police.
The same goes for politicians, most could get paid a lot more in the private sector but we hold them to a higher account just because they are in the public service.
If you want these people to put up with more rubbish, be more lenient and take more risks then you’ll need to reward them better and treat them better imo
What it above during the covid protest and the cops fired rubber bullets a rubber bullets killed someone accidently… would that be manslaughter too? I mean the cops could have going another way to de-escalate couldn’t they?
