Look at BL's salary, and how little he made from that. When you realize how crappy it was, you understand that those shares were not freebies by any stretch. They were considered as, and given to him as "additional compensation."
BL's salary was so crappy that James Brown raised it 109% before he took over the job. He's been on the job 3 months and has nothing to show for it.
