Nuts, DORY is basically software for deploying AI (neural networks) onto edge-computing equipment (Edge AI). Think of an example like Apple Watch. Current architectures leverage cloud-based data centres do do the massive number crunching etc for apps like Heart Rate Monitoring etc. Edge compute moves the processing and storage to where the data is being generated/acquired i.e. on your wrist. It gets rid of the need to send massive amounts of data over the internet but means that your Apple Watch needs to be able to process/store craploads of data inside the watch itself. Add AI to the mix where a neural network AI program (think Chat GPT) can work with that data and make suggestions. So extending the Apple Watch - Heart Rate Monitor scenario, the AI can now predict possible heart attack and send an alert to you and the ambos. DORY is for putting the AI programs into the Watch (sort of) but IMEC still need to kit out their gear to produce 4DS memory cells on an array at 20nm (hardware).

From a 4DS perspective it means we are now moving the strategy to AI edge computing rather than just big data centre storage. Since your watch is tiny, we need to scale down to 20nm.
