Solar panels only work in day time when every one is at work

Not everyone works. I'm retired so make sure to use the washing machine and dishwasher in the daylight hours.
My Mrs still works but like a lot of people now has transitioned to working from home.
Additionally one of the biggest users of electricity is the fridge which can take advantage of solar panels.
Other big users are pool pumps and water heaters some of which can be programmed to run when the sun is shining.

However they are making life difficult for some operators of older thermal power plant who find themselves paying to run during some periods as the penetration of household solar panels is so high and increasing. So much so that an ability to curtail their output is becoming mandatory.
