Not sure of the rational, but the fact is that they have managed to sign up PPAs for the wind not the solar. The offtaker, Stanwell has a stake in possible hydrogen production at Gladstone, so maybe a better fit to the renewable energy needs and meeting the longer term requirements of the Guarantee of Origin Scheme for 'Green' Hydrogen production.
Offtake agreements for 80% of generation on wind (this announcement with Stanwell for 50% over 15 years, plus already announced 30% with Energy Australia for 10 years). Financial investment decision by Dec 2024.
