I would imagine any means of reducing the quantity of product being HCl leached would be welcome. Especially seeing the high leach times required so far.
A process that looks like: Grizzly loader -> Screening -> Milling -> Mag Sep -> Flotation -> Leaching. Higher CAPEX but lower OPEX due to reduced HCl consumption.
I am not 100% sure on reagents used in REE float so unsure of the cost but a study would need to be completed to weigh the flotation cost up against the extra Leach but can't see it being more expensive.
With regards to the mag separation Greenbushes Lithium use them to increase grade prior to flotation as well so proven in a different sector. Expensive gear though.
All in all just the Esperance Clays ticking another box.
