just to set the record correct, the US has been a net exporter of petroleum since 2020. It is a net importer of crude oil, but exports a lot of refined products to make it a net petroleum exporter. Canada and Mexico provide most of its crude imports.
US crude oil production reached all time highs this year, with 13.2 million b/d in Sep. it currently is the largest such producer in the world.
