Doubt it would be a blood bath.
For sure some traders would/will lose but any shorter/trader who knows what they are doing (ie not learned from Youtube) will be closing their positions often taking profits and shorting again.
Unlike long term holders who hold for years, "Shorters" short SHORT term (the name says it all)........ maybe 1 in 1000 hold short position longer than few weeks, less than 1 in 10,000 hold a short post position longer than a month. However they reload.
