TYR is an Aquirer. (The 5th largest after the big 4 banks).
As an aquirer TYR get a small fee for each transaction & the business owner also pays them for the use of their eftpos terminal.
All the acquirer has to do, is forward the card details to the issuing bank to get authorisation for the transaction via the card networks (like V & MA).
Its the issuing bank's (like the big 4 that provide credit cards) that wears the risk for credit defaults.
In terms of risk TYR has also got an issuing bank license. Provides another area of growth & some risk ??? ie: as they are able to provide business loans.
