The sophisticated investors including management were probably doing the shorting in the first place, with the many millions of options they had it wouldn't be hard to do the shorting, between that and off market trades in small enough pockets to not create a red flag at a strike price of .34 cents, they essentially would have mitigated all the risks they had and quite possibly made money still. Now they have managed that and got away with it, they get another crack even better value, manipulate the share price again through the new shitload, but this time strike price 0.24. Win/Win for them.
