G'day jack2000
So far OFX have bought back just over 5M shares. They have not indicated a minimum buy back quantity, however they have declared a maximum number which they may or may not reach, that number is a bit over 24M shares. So there is a very good possibility that these buy backs will be going for a while yet.
OFX regularly report on their buy back programme, which is where I found the details mentioned above.
As the number of issued shares progressively drops, earnings per share theoretically rises progressively, however earnings are never a static. It could be a good thing if future earnings increase, as that could drive a positive uplift in the share price. Clearly, we won't know future earnings until they are reported however we may get an inkling if the Company provides some sort of forecast. It is up to investors to determine the reliability of any such forecast.
On 14th November, OFX announced 1H24 results. There is plenty of info in that presentation covering various aspects of the business with some pointers to the future.
