I reckon they know much better than they are given credit for pardon the pun. I guess if they were buying up shares they would be letting us know too. As an aside, the US, British and Australian governments put a lot of joint resources into inquiries about legislating BNPL. Granted, it is a very complex area and there are much wider and deeper implications for payment systems, the use of cash in the community, the impact on underprivileged peoples' access to credit as well as financial impacts, but those 3 governments have all said they have not got time to introduce regulations until early next year. The British government is hot under the collar about vulnerable people being impacted, the Australian government says that it will bring BNPL under the collar of the Credit Act and in September of 2022 the US CFBP said there is evidence that BNPL can cause harm. None of them have done anything, nor do they show any inclination toward doing anything. Why is that? IMO they are letting the industry work itself out as it is doing, until there is only a couple of players left.
