Certainly there is anecdotal evidence as purported by Liffort Hobley (USA ex NFL player) who stated it felt like a weight loss drug.
In actuality it was more the pain reduction and thus good night's rest thus allowing for himself and his compadres to re-partake in more exercise that led to the shedding of the pounds.
In other words, indirect benefit.
We know "sleep at night" was the singlest best performing category in the SAS questionnaires.
