At the end of the day there will be hundreds of thousands dead on both sides.

We need to look at ways to avoid such wars in the future (if possible).

IMO with Ukraine being between an understandably distrustful east and an expansionist west its in a no win situation unless it takes an approach similar to India - non aligned and trading with everyone in its own interest. Ukraine has incredible fertile soil and rainfall, good industrial cities. They need to respect minorities and reject the banderite nationalism that the US exploited in the 2014 coup as the muscle.

Government transition needs to be via elections in an environment where everyone can participate. Corruption exploited by the Biden's and various Oligarchs in Ukraine and Russia needs to be eliminated. Only with a neutral Ukraine will that place have peace IMO.
